Why Can’t I Connect A Laptop And Pc Via Lan/router To Internet?

I’ve attempted to connect the laptop to the pc (all cords & accessories plugged in to the appropiate spaces) and even had some sort of LAN connection…yet I can connect to the internet with the PC, but can’t connect the laptop to the PC (no direct connection anyway…they seem to reconnize the fundamental connection) nor the internet. Any help, please?
