My New Acer Aspire 7735g Laptop Keeps Shutting Down Every 20-30 Minutes And Restating Without Any Warning?
When I first brought this laptop from a London branch or Argos in the UK and turned it on and set up the computer in its factory settings it turned off automatically without warning. There was no shutdown procedure, error message or blue screen. Then it just started up again and now the laptop does this every 20-40 minutes and if I’m doing any work on Microsoft Word it does not save the work I was doing when it switches off.
These are the problems I have:
If I leave the laptop in idle state or browsing the internet it goes off instantly every 20-30 minutes.
I have not really used a lot of upgrades, just updated my software from Microsoft using “Windows Update”. Also I don’t have anything blocking the air vents and fans of the laptop. My laptop is just placed on a desk, when the problem occurs.
Finally I don’t have any accessories connected to the laptop, but I have looked around the internet and have found there are other people who have the same problem with this model (Acer aspire 7735G) as well.
I have checked the internal temperature of the laptop and the duo cores are always between 37-40 degrees (98F – 105F),
Also I set the Power management on the laptop to never turn off when left in idle state on battery or when the laptop is plugged in.
Also it turns off automatically, when I am only using battery power or only using the laptop plugged in with the battery taken out. The same thing also happens when I’m using both the battery and laptop plugged in together.
I have tried running the laptop in both normal and safe mode, but the problem still occurs in safe mode as well.
Furthermore, every time the laptop switches off, it makes a clicking sound (but not when its run in Safe mode), but maybe this is normal when it shuts down?

Time it to see if the intervals are exactly the same every time it shuts off. If they are, it could be that you have a non-genuine copy of windows and therefore need to reinstall the operating system (OS) with a genuine copy. When I ran windows 7, I didn’t realize my trial had expired, so every 30 mins the computer would restart without warning. Besides it restarting every 30 mins on the dot, it worked fine.

Just bought one of these and it started shutting down without any warning when I was attempting to create the recovery disks.
From what I have found out, it is something to do with over heating.
I have read that If the laptop goes to sleep then the fan stops working.
ePowerSrv.exe apparently controls the fan. You could see if this service is running using Task Manager

The thermostat might be getting false readings and the computer is actually overheating even though you are taking proper precautions. Looks like you are going to have to take it to Acer and have them look at it. Some hardware in your laptop is defective and going to need to be replaced.
