How Can I Order A Simple Replacement Part For A Broken Compaq Presario Laptop Charger Cable? (inexpensively)?

Laptop charger snapped… hoping to get a new one, but everywhere I look is charging upwards of $40. Can the charger really cost that much? A “replace with” sticker is on the charger, and I don’t want anything snazzy. Shouldn’t Compaq simply have a replacement parts order number? It’s a replacement for a standard, not an accessory, but I see no such area on their website.
Unfortunately, yes, chargers can cost that much and more. The AC adapter will be listed under accessory since the there are basically 2 types a “travel” adapter used to power the laptop only when traveling and the larger (read higher wattage) adapter which is usually used for docking station purposes.
Sometime you can find them for less…just be sure it matches up with your particular laptop. They can vary between laptop models.
ebay, or amazon maybe. otherwise look for a big price in upwards of $50.00. unless you can find some “for parts” unit on ebay that also comes with a charger for cheap.
have you tried ebay? Or if it still under warranty (usually 2 years) compaq will replace it. But you will have to take it back to the store that you bought it and they will give you a form and number to call.
